HOTEL INDUSTRY PROS

New to industry

How does one get their foot in the door with no experience? I have been searching , and applied for entry level positions on hcareers, as well as the hotel's main career site, but it appears they are looking for people who already have experience... I recently received my certificate in hotel operations at NYU in Spring '09, and I am ready and excited to enter the field! I am willing to hear suggestions/ideas!!

Why don't you offer to make an internship for a determined period of time with the perspective to proceed to an entry level position after this. This will provide you also insight whether the hotel and the future job will be the right choice for you and the employer will see how you are working.

I was on a trip for a client doing SEO and marketing. While staying at my hotel I had a good conversation with him about options he could try. One thing lead to another and I was working for that hotel within a week. Ever since I've been loving the hotel industry from a marketing angle, and from a traveler's point of view.
