we all know that our economy is going through a down turn. what can we do to assure good business through tough market conditions?

doing what we do at the moment is a good start , start to network and start to get good teams together.
by the way , economy is a way of life, like a circle , it goes up and down, what are so tough market conditions? the conditions are always tough, but just think about a rat, he survive, he start eating electric wire, start to think like a rat, where could you put you teeth in.
do you have lots of referals?do you encourage your customer to come back? have you anylised all your marketing segments? Have you ask all your customers where do they come from ,and most of all why do they like it here? You would be surprise of the answers, what the managment like about their hotel , is often not what the hotel like about itself, ex sexy staff, great breakfast, nice carpet....etc

It's a common problem for whole world. The economies are going through a down turn. The situation brings out more work for the management level. We have to spend much more time for figures and statistics and work on quality. The most important and the most difficult part of these period is keeping qualified staff in your company. creativity, all through my working years we have faced different type of problems
starting with war and big economical growth, at the end like now we are increasing the quality of service and rooms, at the same time we are increasing our prices in arithmetic non Geometric increase like (1-2-3-4-5...)and not (2-4-8,...)
at the end you will have the rate that you want and it will not effect psychologically on your costumer . Believe me they would not notice it...
take care and increase and make more money and if you want to have some strategies on guest psychology let me know.

i will give you few examples and it is up to you to figure it out
1-in the mall the price is 9.99 $ why it is not 10.00$ ?
2-every now and then they tell you that they have an improved formula in this product or that ...in fact all they have done is (changing the cover )
3-your guest expect a value of 10 $ for a service of 1 $ price, provide it.
4-breath feeding, you cannot stop in one day, you have to do it constantly, or baby will keep on breath until the age of 12.
for some my ideas are funny but at least it is working.
Here in US we are able to get a report called the STAR report which let's us know how we are performing against our competitive set and whether we have lost or gained market share. I also posted a blog about my success in inviting guests whose expectations had been met and exceeded (Social Marketing for Hoteliers) during a prior stay on our properties. Build on your "repeat business" through emails and social marketing at appropriate contact times! We've done a lot with "added value" items such as hammocks or drinks or breakfasts but are trying to hold our rates to 10% under prior year. This is of course difficult if someone in our competitive set has so lowered there rates that it distorts the real price point that we should be selling at. Also the Expedias of the world are hurting us all! They will only put you on their first page if you rate is lowest.
we can do many things but this will be depends about your country business :
1- we can do action plan to active some company which is have agood potential business.
2- create implementing sales to increas our revenue.
3- we should focus about business trip to convert some company to key account which will take it from competion check.
